Forum topic: Youtube style layout?

There is an awesome module for Joomla called Seyret
http://www.joomlaholic.com/index.php?option=com_seyret&Itemid=3
Which creates a YouTube like environment where members can upload video to the server or link to videos they've already posted on other sites like Youtube.
Users can watch, rate and comment on other peoples video submissions. Plus many ways to display videos thumbnail links on other pages.

I love this module but generally dislike Joomla and looking top switch to Drupal. Just curious if the Open Media package will be able to do this kind of thing?
Absolutely need something like this for my site.

Yes - absolutely. OpenPackage Video just provides the video component. For commenting, you can use the 'comment' module which is part of core. For voting use the 'fivestar' contributed module.

You can use the views module for pages that have an overview of many videos, like most popular.

Thanks. That's great to hear. I was a little worried that I might not be able to make the switch to Drupal as I wasn't sure if anything that existed.
Do you happen to know of any example sites that are set up in this way?
I looked at the showcase above but didn't see anything that close. Maybe I didn't look hard enough though.

Also curious how easy that was to all set up, is it fairly out of the box, just a few modules to install, or are we talking about days of hacking and tweaking to get it close to what the other example does out of the box?

Well this site is a good demo!

You can submit videos, vote, comment, tag, browse most popular.

Its just a matter of installing and tweaking some modules. If there was an install profile for it then it would be even easier - I created a bounty for it: http://openpackage.biz/bounty/19.
